Born and molded to take over as Governor of Port Royal, Jamaica, Nicholas feels the burden of responsibility.

He longs for the sea, to escape the hands of power trying to pull him into the game of houses.

In the end, Nicholas must make the choice to take his revenge on the pirate captain or accept him for the flawed man he is.
